Dear frank Hi, i am albert ngassa from cameroon. I am working for a physical refining unit base in cameroon. We are using 1 inch cell to
measure the colour of our oil. The CPO colour is 25R(1" cell) after pretreat (for 15 minutes) and bleaching (for 20 minutes) the oil colour is 22R (1"cell). the colour of RBDPO is 1R (1" cell). our deodorization time is 30-45 minutes. Dear frank, tell what to do because i want to have a colour of 0.6R (in 1" cell) after deodorization. Thanks for your help!

Dear Frank, When looking at a result of bleaching earth test on CPO refining I saw the following parameters: FFA:3.60%, DOBI: 2.49, E269:0.567, M: 0.19% and COL: 26.0R. While I know what FFA, DOBI, M and COL means, what’s E269 stands for and how do you read the value (i.e their meaning)?

Dear Frank, How important is a fat's Iodine Value? What is its relevance when a fat is used in food production (confectionery and bakery manufacturing)? HPKOlein has a lower IV than shortening. Does this mean that shortening is of lower quality and is more susceptible to oxidation and hydrolysis as compared to HPKOlein due to its higher IV? Thanks for clarifying things.

Dear Frank, i need your help. I am working for a palm oil physical refining unit based in cameroon. We have problem with the colour of our olein and we want to improve it. These are our refining parameters: crude palm oil colour: 25R; I-pretreatment: 0.1% H3PO3 (85%); at 90°C; II-bleaching:2% activated earth; at 100°C. bleach oil colour: 22R; III-deodorization:270°C with 5mbar vacuum. IV- Fractionation:we have a dry fractionation plant and filtrat ion take place at 18°C. Please tell if at the pretreatment stage the use of phosphoric acid dilute at 50% will give better result in term of colour after bleaching. May i used refined palm kernel oil to ameliorate the colour of olein.

I am a Production Manager of an edible Oil Refinery in India. During physical refining of present CPO we are getting colour of RPO 8Y+1.4R=15.0 units in 1 inches cell in Lovibond Tintometer. Dear Frank, We manufacture candy in the Philippines. We use shortening as our fat component. How do I determine if I should use one with SMP 36-39 Celsius or one with SMP 40-42 Celsius? What would be the determining factor for choosing one over the other? Are shortening products with different SMP's created equal? Or is one preferred over another across different industries like confectionery and bakery? Thanks for taking time to answer my questions.
